About Medieval and Renaissance Drama in England

Medieval and Renaissance Drama in England (MaRDiE) is an annual, peer-reviewed, academic journal that publishes original research on all aspects of premodern English drama.

It is overseen by an internationally recognized board of scholars. Since the publication of its first volume in 1984, MaRDiE has been committed to providing a “space for everyone interested in the drama to have their say. Theatre historians . . . have a place as well as textual scholars, social historians, and students of plays in performance, early and modern. Texts of documents [are] as welcome in MaRDiE as studies of the political foundations (or agenda) of this or that play.”

The journal seeks submissions that offer wide-ranging discussions of plays, manuscript studies, and early theatre history. MaRDiE welcomes submissions that pertain to cultural history, the history of printing, and critical studies of plays and performances.
